Horseback Riding Director, Camp High Rocks, Cedar
Mountain, NC Camp
High Rocks, a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has
a male or female riding director opening for its summer riding
program. Our program emphasizes the non-competitive aspects
of English horsemanship, focusing on non-abusive riding, effective
communication with the horse, skill development, and using horses
to enhance a child's self image. We strive to teach riding
skills and horse care in a safe and fun atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
Implement program goals, organize riding schedule, lead a staff
of seven, assist in the development of staff, overall organization
of the program. The riding director will work very closely
with the barn manager in the care of 35+ horses. Other
duties include instruction of riding to campers 8 to 16 years
of age. Beginning instruction starts in one of our five
rings and progresses to jumping and trail riding throughout
our 1,100 acre facility.
Qualifications:
At least 21 years of age. Possess skills and confidence
in the leading and organization of English horsemanship.
Prefer leadership in an English riding program and teaching
experience or other work with children.
Benefits: From
$320 - $550 per week for the nine-week season and one week of
orientation, depending on experience and qualifications.
Room and board is included.
