2008 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Field Instructor/ Outdoor Educator

High Rocks, an outdoor education program in mountains Western North Carolina, is currently looking for staff to help out with all or part of its LEAP school group program. Our LEAP programs host a number of different private schools in the southeast. The program focus varies from group to group, but is mostly team building and personal challenge using a variety of different adventure-based activities. The programs are anywhere from 2-5 days in length, and the participants are boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 18 years old. Each program is custom made to meet the goals of the particular group.

At High Rocks we use the "Challenge by Choice" philosophy as we create a supportive, caring atmosphere that allows the participants to push themselves further than they ever thought possible. Using outdoor activities, taught in a supportive environment, have proven to be an invaluable tool for teaching young people the skills they need not only to safely enjoy the world around us, but to be a positive force in their communities as well. By freeing the students from the walls of a traditional classroom we can work with these students integrating current curriculum and subject matter that will enhance their learning through experiential methods. Each program takes full advantage of the beautiful spring or fall season to embark on trips, either on our 1100 acres of camp property or in a nearby national forest. Our programs often include the following activities:

· Backpacking
