Professional Staff

The strength of High Rocks lies in its staff: in each counselor's unique talents and personality, and in an expression of these through the combined effort of the staff working together. We are a team of caring people who share thoughts with each other, try new approaches, support one another, and who are creative, energetic, responsible, and patient while leading by example.

Our staff is professional and dedicated to the field of experiential education. They have chosen this field as their pursuit in life. The age range for our staff is 22-30. All of our staff have had extensive experience with children in the outdoors and many hold professional certifications in their focus activity including swiftwater rescue, American Canoe Association Instructor Certification, High Ropes Course Certification, and rock rescue. Our staff members have also committed themselves to safety by holding a minimum certification of Wilderness First Aid/ CPR while most have Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness EMT.

LEAP Staff Position Announcement

We understand the importance of individual attention; not only for safety, but also for the educational impact it has on the participants. Our staff to student ratio in camp is 1:6. As we venture off of camp property into nearby forests we increase our ratio to 1:5 and there are always at least 2 High Rocks staff for each out of camp group. Our staff is committed to creating the highest quality programming for experiential education.
