The Last Saturday

Wow! What a beautiful day!  Blue skies with just enough clouds to make it pretty.  I love Saturday mornings because it is one of the few mornings we do not have an executive team meeting.  It allows me to enjoy the morning a little bit more.

Our mini men were crushing it today in their activities.  Flattop and Foxhollow were both up working from some height today on the High Ropes Course today.  It was fun to see all of their successes across camp.

Another big event was “Launch Day” today.  The boys have worked hard on their rockets this week and today was the big test.  We did try to get some pictures of that today as well. Many of them decided on a second launch.  Some seem to go into orbit with the bigger engines on the second launch. We might find those rockets in the future 😊.

Some of the oldest boys were running time trails on our Shrimpers mountain bike loop.  It is the trail they will use for tomorrow’s upper senior challenge.  I can’t believe how much these boys complain about being tired, but then go and run five laps on this course.  You can tell they don’t want to miss a beat.

One of my favorite activities today was at our hiking and nature program.  The boys all did various forms of fire building.  The oldest group even tried primitive fire building with bow drills.  Many of the other guys tried flint and steel as well.  It is fun to see how excited these boys got about these techniques.

I do have some housekeeping notes from Darby. If you are planning on shipping a trunk/duffle home, there are two steps. First, please contact the UPS Store in Brevard. (828) 883-4701. Second, please email our office to let us know that you wish to have your trunk/duffle shipped and we will deliver your item(s) to the UPS store on Closing Day.

Second, from the office.  If you are flying home and your son needs a ride to the airport. Be sure to let us know.  Many of you have already through the forms process, but if you have not, we need to know about the details.

Breakfast: Scratch-made buttermilk pancakes, bacon, hash browns, cut fruit, and assorted cereals.

Lunch: Mini corn dog day, wings (teriyaki and buffalo), mac and cheese, pineapple, tossed salad, and carrot slaw (I tried it, not my favorite, but I did try it).

Dinner: Pack out pan pizza, chips, scratch-made chocolate chip cookies, and a soda of choice.  Each cabin could have dinner anywhere they wished tonight.  Most sat on the lawn and just enjoyed hanging out while eating a ton of pizza.

If you are the social media type, don’t forget to share those pictures of your son having a blast at High Rocks.  It is hard to believe that we only have six days left. While tomorrow will be a little calmer in the morning, the afternoon picks up fast.  It is going to be quite a ride.

All the best,

Don
