It is getting close now! The boys are trying to get that last adventure out of the session before time runs out. We still have the horseback riding “Drill Team” presentation and the final round of the camper-counselor tennis tournament. These are just a few of the last morsels of goodness we are still reaching for.
Today we still had an early morning group of climbers head out. The paddlers were wrapping up their second day on the Pigeon River, and mountain biking took a fresh group over to Dupont this morning. The pottery studio was wrapping up some of the last firings of the session today. I saw some fierce glazing going on in there to get their items in the kiln on time.
Tonight, I enjoyed taking the other half of our oldest boys across the street for a short round of golf. I find it is the perfect way to just hang out with guys that have been around camp for more than 6 years! We had a blast. It has become a tradition with the oldest age group for over ten years. We just go once toward the end of camp. Sherwood Golf Course is a fun little 18-hole par three. The rest of camp enjoyed some “international games” tonight for evening program. We had Cricket, AFL (Australian Rules Football), Rugby, and tennis (of course).
A quick note from Darby: This summer, we quietly and successfully started a Camp High Rocks library. Located in the Dining Hall, campers are welcome to peruse the shelves and borrow books throughout their session. On the first day it was opened, books went flying off the shelf. We are still working to build up our library and we invite you to bring books that your campers may have outgrown, in good condition to donate! Please drop them off with Darby at check-out. You are welcome to stop by our small library on closing day and see the start of a new High Rocks staple!
Your boys sure do make High Rocks a great place. We like to have more boys that are just like your sons. Remember, if you have any family friends in the area, the summer is the best time to see camp. Have them come by High Rocks to see it in action. Send them to our tour page and we will take it from there. We love to show off High Rocks! Here is a link to the Tour Page.
Have a fantastic evening!
