Swimming

High Rocks’s eleven-acre lake provides the perfect place for campers to cool off after having fun under the warm summer sun either as an activity of instruction or during our choice period time.

For campers who elect to take an hour of daily instruction in swimming, teaching is geared towards coaching an individual stroke and then playing a game which makes use of that stroke or emphasizes a point of technique.  Trips to nearby spots such as Hooker Falls or the French Broad River play into the summer tradition of finding a scenic swimming hole and reward campers for their efforts during class.

The Iceberg

Designed to thrill, the Iceberg is a hit with campers during choice period and free times. With almost 7 feet of height and a climbing rope for those feeling strong, the Iceberg entices campers to conquer it, then jump or slide from the top of ‘the mountain.’

All campers who demonstrate competent swimming ability are eligible to swim during free-time and may enjoy other waterfront activities such as the rope swing and waterslide. The boys must pass the swim assessment on opening day to be deemed competent to swim without a life vest in the free swim area. Anyone who does not pass our swim assessment will simply wear a life jacket when at the waterfront. For those less confident in their swimming skills, electing to take swimming gives them the chance to work with our American Red Cross certified lifeguards and swim instructors.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our High Rocks experience. The staff, facilities, activities, and experience exceeds our expectations year after year. Camp allows our boys the chance to gain independence, learn new things, push themselves to make new friends and most importantly have fun!

Rope Swing & Waterslide

Launch into the air with our rope swing or see how fast you can make it down our waterslide. Both the ropes swing and waterslide are popular hits with campers during camp and families on our Family Camp or Father-Son Weekends. Are you ready to give it a go?
