I had to post this picture! It was priceless and just captured the fun out there today! We had a great day visiting with the Mini I parents and wish well to all those boys heading home today. This group of “minis” was more than half first-time campers. It was a big step to jump into all that we have to offer. I heard several stories about the boys not wanting to leave and how they would be back next year. Some even threw out that they would be back for four weeks next year! It was a great group of boys and parents. I look forward to seeing many of them for years to come!
Speaking of time flying, we are halfway through our session today. These four-week boys will go home in just two more weeks. While the honeymoon has long faded, it does seem like many of these guys are still working well together. Some of the younger cabins are hitting some of their first “storming sessions” as they learn to work through differences with five other boys living together in 500 square feet of space. They do not yet see the importance, but I do.
Camp looked a little quiet this afternoon with out Mini I boys gone. These four week boys continue to crush through their expedition. There was still plenty going on throughout the rest of the day here at camp. It’s amazing how this four week family can just keep going.
I finally got to play my first round game of the camper-counselor tennis tournatment. It was hot out there this afternoon. After a ten game set. My partner and I pulled through 6-4. On to the second round! Many second round games have already played, but I was a little late getting my crew together. The three-on-three basketball tournament is just kicking off. That should be some good fun!
Tonight, we had pan pizza on the lawn with our cabinmates. It sure seems a whole lot quieter and less crazy when you move the meal outside. It was a wonderful sunny evening with a little breeze.
Just another great day at High Rocks! Thanks for letting us raise your boys for a few weeks. The best is yet to come!
