After a festive Sunday the crowds appeared a little winded this morning. There was not the typical stampede at the door as the boys wer just sauntering up after the bell rang for brekafast.
There was still plenty going on including many trips out today and several Camper-Counselor matches that had to be wrpped up so we could move to the next round of play.
Our big news of the day was welcoming our July Mini II Campers! It was so much fun to see new and returning families this morning. Many I had met on the road last fall and some again at one of our father-son weekends. We had everyone here by 11:40am and the boys ere off and running. The guys did some tours around camp and then right into lunch. A few more processes and swim tests during our typical rest hour and then we had their schedules set for the afternoon. By 3pm all the boys were heading to their first activities. It has been a great first day for them.
Image Gallery
Below tonight’s blog is the link to the High Rocks Gallery. You will notice that our website and picture gallery is very user-friendly on almost any device, including mobile and tablet devices. To get all the details and features like image download, and navigation; please check out the notes and details here at Gallery Help and Highlights. This gallery is password protected. If you are new to the gallery, you should have received an automated email today with details for your login (check your spam folder). If you are a returning family, use the email address that you received in the opening day email. Your password is the same as last year. If you cannot remember, just use the “forgot password” link to retrieve a new one.
It may make sense to save the link and log in to your browser for quick access. I will try my best to get the blog up by 9:30 pm each night, but sometimes camp does get in the way, or our rural internet has been quite slow (or even slower). Don’t fret! We will get you the pictures as soon as we can! We are likely to push up some pictures throughout the day (usually after rest hour), but they will continue to go up until the blog is live. Once the blog is up, it typically means that pictures are up for the day.
Don’t forget to follow us on social media. We will make it worth your while by putting up a couple of extra pictures and a special video from time to time during the day. Facebook: Camp High Rocks, and on Instagram. Feel free to throw up some of these great pictures to share on your feed. We like making High Rocks look good!
If you are interested in the high-resolution download, you can still order that for the session. Just hit up Darby at [email protected]. She can just put it on your store account. It is $45.00 plus tax ($48.04 to be exact). If you have pre-ordered a download subscription, Darby has not updated those yet, but she will have those updated tomorrow.
Camper Schedule
We will send out an email to you about your sons’ schedules around lunchtime tomorrow. You can also find his up-to-date schedule on my.higrocks.com along with trips he has taken during the session. We ask the boys to choose five different activities. They can change just about any time they like, and they always get into the activities they want. Again, look for an email and update around lunchtime tomorrow.
It sure is fun to have a birthday at camp! We go all out with a special made cake, confetti, singing, and parrents can send or leave gifts for birthday happening at camp. I enjoyed that this guy still had his hat on when I was walking through camp. You can still see the remains of the confetti excitement as well as some remenants of the scratch-made chocolate cake.
Evening Time with Age Groups is still a favored time of the day.
After dinner tonight we all went in different directions. Our new Age Group 1 (Hillside and Connestee) boys hit the gym for some fantastic dodgeball excitement. Age group 2 (Lakeside and Flattop) had a delightful evening over at the waterslide and rope swing. Age group 3 (Foxhollow and Windswept) had a great time with some canoe fill-ups. Age group 4 (Outpost and Sprucepine) had their chill night at sliding rock and Dolly’s. Age group 5 (Chalet and Overlook) spent the evening doing several tennis games. Finally, age group 6 split up a bit. I took a little over half of the boys across the street for a short round of golf at Sherwood Forest’s par 3 course. I love this tradtion that was started probably more the 12 years ago. The other half will play tomorrow with Chadwick. The boys not golfing had some chill time up at their “summit” location near Pinnacle. It was a welcomed relaxation.
What a great Monday! Mini II parents, please reach out to me if you need any gallery assistance tonight. We are so excited you are here! Woody will fil us in on the days events tomorrow. Have a great evening.
